Description

The Nicolais School of Business at Wagner College, located on Staten Island in New York City, invites applicants to apply for a full-time, tenure-track, position for an Assistant Professor of Management to start in Spring 2027.


The ideal candidate will help develop the management skills business students require upon graduation; be current with pedagogy including online and hybrid learning modalities; possess an ability to innovate in the classroom through experiential learning, real-world applications, and industry partnerships; possess the desire to participate in the growth of the school.


About the Nicolais School of Business


In 2016, Wagner College established the Nicolais School of Business (NSB), to honor two of the college's stalwart supporters of business education, the late Michael A. Nicolais '49 H'14 and his wife, Margaret Christie Nicolais '49 H'14.


The Nicolais School of Business enrolls almost 400 undergraduate majors and 75 MBA students with ambitious goals to grow enrollment at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The NSB offers four undergraduate majors in accounting, finance, marketing, and management, a BA in economics and an MBA with concentrations in management, marketing, and finance. Students are at the core of our decisions. Through practical education, based on a liberal arts tradition, our mission is to prepare students to be career-ready, data-informed, ethical business leaders, effective communicators, and responsible global citizens. We are making investments to develop innovative, relevant, and high-impact curriculum and programs to prepare students to thrive in an ever-changing business world, and to cultivate and forge community and industry partnerships and to establish our brand identity.


The Nicolais School of Business has the full support of the senior leadership of the College, an active Board of Trustees, and an engaged alumni base. The NSB is accredited by Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). NSB is also a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Given our location, there are many opportunities to build upon existing partnerships and form new collaborations to help develop faculty members and to identify and provide opportunities for our students.

Qualifications


The candidate must possess a doctoral degree (or ABD near completion). Prior teaching experience is a plus, but not required.


The candidate must possess a robust interest in excellent teaching, demonstrate an interest in research, and a strong commitment to college and school-wide service activities such as serving on committees and advising undergraduate and graduate students.


We are seeking individuals who are passionate about teaching student success and researching a variety of topics.


Responsibilities



  • Teaching -The standard teaching load at the Nicolais School of Business is three sections per semester (six per academic year).

  • Student advising at the undergraduate and graduate level.

  • Participation in College-wide and school-specific committees.

  • Publishing research in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Presenting research at academic and industry conferences.
