JOB SUMMARY: The Night Shelter Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the site operates efficiently, orderly, and safely during the hours of 8 pm through 5 am Monday through Friday. The Night Shelter Supervisor demonstrates the ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a respectful and professional manner. The Night Shelter Supervisor will establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, Residential Volunteers (RVs), and staff. They will support and encourage clients in freely advocating for their needs. The Night Shelter Supervisor is punctual and intentional in planning and organizing tasks and schedules. They engage in solution-focused problem solving and short-term crisis intervention. The Night Shelter Supervisor actively shares in LSSSC’s mission to embrace, equip, and empower clients toward self-sufficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Facilitates client orientation and check-in processes.
· Ensures clients adhere to their shelter contract agreement.
· Assures that clients are safe and in their designated beds.
· Ensures that clients follow all shelter rules and protocols in a calm and orderly manner.
· Engages in crisis intervention and de-escalation practices.
· Empowers clients to advocate for their needs.
· Maintains activities log on a nightly basis. Log must be completed and available for the Case managers and Shelter Director during the following day shift.
· Logs all incidents and completes incident reports before leaving site during the night shift.
· Reports incidents to Shelter Director and Case Managers within 24 hours.
· Contacts the San Bernardino City Police Department for assistance when appropriate.
· Provides oversight of Residential Volunteer (RV) assigned duties.
· Evaluates the condition of the shelter and completes work orders to identify and report any safety concerns.
· Follows all policies and procedures including agency, department, grant and/or contractual agreements.
· Participates in team meetings when requested.
· Completes all required training.
· Collaborates with the day staff by reporting all client challenges, program and/or agency issues/concerns to the Shelter Director.
· Ensures all shelter rules are enforced, addresses rule violations, corrects the situation, and completes all necessary documentation.
· Protects client information and maintains client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and LSSSC Policies and Procedures.
· Capable of working a flexible schedule if needed.
· Fulfill program or contract requirement as outlined in contract or as directed by Shelter Director.
Serve clients and community with empathy and awareness of appropriate boundaries.
· Complete documentation in a timely manner according to program policies.
· Keep client charts locked when not in use.
· Notify Shelter Director and Case Managers of all client issues, program issues or concerns.
· Notify Shelter Director of any Staff or Agency issues or concerns.
· Submit timecards, time-off request, and activity logs in a timely manner.
· Provide all reports to Shelter Director or Essential Services as scheduled.
· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education: Requires a High School diploma and a minimum of 2 years of experience or an Associates degree with 6 months of previous experience. Prior security experience and prior case management experience required.
Language Ability: Ability to read, speak and write reports fluent in English.
Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have very good knowledge of Word processing software and Excel spreadsheet software.
