Night Supervisor

Guardian Fleet Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Night Supervisor to oversee and support nightly towing, recovery, roadside assistance, transport, and fleet operations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and professional service delivery while supporting drivers, dispatch personnel, customers, and field operations throughout the night shift. The Night Supervisor serves as the primary operational leader during overnight hours, coordinating response activities, managing resources, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards, and assisting with customer and employee support. This position requires strong leadership skills, extensive towing and recovery industry experience, and the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations Leadership
- Direct and supervise nightly towing, recovery, roadside service, transport, and fleet support operations.
- Coordinate dispatch priorities, job assignments, resource allocation, and response efforts to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor service levels, response times, and operational performance throughout the shift.
- Provide leadership and operational support during emergency responses, major recovery events, and high-priority incidents.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues during overnight hours.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, motivate, and support drivers, operators, dispatch personnel, and other operations staff.
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and customer service excellence.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management initiatives.
- Ensure employees understand and follow company policies, procedures, and operational expectations.
- Provide real-time coaching and field support when necessary.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain and enforce all safety standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), vehicle securement practices, load handling procedures, and recovery techniques.
- Monitor compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, towing regulations, and transportation safety requirements.
- Conduct incident reviews and assist with corrective action plans as needed.
- Promote safe work practices at roadside scenes, recovery sites, storage facilities, and customer locations.
Customer Service & Account Support
- Respond professionally to escalated customer concerns and service issues.
- Support relationships with commercial fleet customers, municipalities, law enforcement agencies, insurance partners, and roadside assistance providers.
- Assist with resolving service challenges while maintaining positive customer experiences.
- Ensure accurate communication between dispatch, drivers, customers, and management teams.
Operational Administration
- Monitor and track operational metrics, including response times, driver productivity, equipment utilization, customer concerns, and safety incidents.
- Assist in maintaining operational records, reports, and documentation.
- Support the development and enforcement of standard operating procedures.
- Ensure equipment readiness and coordinate maintenance concerns with appropriate personnel.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CDL-A License required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy-duty towing, light-duty towing, dispatch operations, specialized transport, and recovery services.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to supervise, mentor, and hold employees accountable.
- Strong knowledge of towing and recovery operations, equipment, and safe operating procedures.
- Thorough understanding of RISK Recovery processes and procedures.
- Ability to make critical decisions in fast-paced, high-pressure, and emergency situations.
- Excellent communication, customer service, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Experience utilizing dispatch software, GPS/telematics systems, mobile applications, email, and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety standards, vehicle securement requirements, and applicable state and local towing regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience managing towing and recovery operations serving commercial fleets, law enforcement agencies, municipalities, motor clubs, or insurance providers.
- Hands-on experience operating heavy-duty wreckers, rotators, lowboys, service trucks, and specialized recovery equipment.
- Experience managing safety programs, driver development initiatives, fleet maintenance coordination, and incident investigation processes.
- Ability to read and interpret recovery plans, work orders, service agreements, operational reports, and rate schedules.
Leadership Expectations
The Night Supervisor is expected to be a hands-on leader who sets the standard for safety, professionalism, accountability, and customer care. This individual must be comfortable leading both from the office and in the field, supporting employees during complex recoveries and difficult situations while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, lift, and work outdoors for extended periods.
- Ability to safely work around moving vehicles, heavy equipment, and active traffic.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and high-pressure roadside environments.
Schedule & Working Conditions
- Full-time overnight position.
- Typical schedule: Monday through Friday, 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
- Required to participate in an every-other-weekend on-call rotation.
- Must be available for emergency callouts and major recovery events as business needs require.
- Work environments include roadside incidents, recovery scenes, storage facilities, repair shops, dispatch centers, and customer locations.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and demonstrated industry expertise.
