Non-Ferrous Technician 

As a Non-Ferrous Technician at Steed Metals, you will be responsible for the processing, sorting, and preparation of non-ferrous metals for recycling. Your role is critical in ensuring quality control and efficiency within our recycling operations, contributing to our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. You will work in a collaborative environment that values teamwork and innovation. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Material Processing: Sort and process non-ferrous metals, such as aluminum, copper, brass, and lead, ensuring accurate classification and preparation for recycling. 

• Quality Control: Conduct inspections to ensure non-ferrous materials meet the company’s quality standards and specifications prior to processing and shipment. 

• Equipment Operation: Operate various machinery and equipment used in the processing of non-ferrous metals, including balers, shears, forklifts and conveyors. 

• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to promote a safe working environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). 

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of materials processed, including quantities and types of metals sorted, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. 

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to achieve production goals and improve operational efficiencies. 

• Continuous Improvement: Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of recycling operations. 

Qualifications 

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in a related field preferred. 

• Previous experience in recycling, scrap metal processing, or a similar industrial environment preferred. 

• Strong understanding of non-ferrous metals and their properties. 

• Ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment safely and effectively. 

• Good attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. 

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. 

• Commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
