About the Role Baratz & Associates, P.A. is seeking a Staff Accountant I – Audit to support our Not‑for‑Profit audit practice, including organizations subject to Single Audit and Yellow Book requirements. This role provides structured training and hands‑on exposure to governmental and nonprofit audit standards. Responsibilities
Assist with Not‑for‑Profit audit engagements, including organizations subject to Single Audit requirements.
Perform audit procedures under supervision in accordance with firm methodology.
Assist with testing of internal controls and compliance requirements.
Prepare audit workpapers and supporting schedules.
Gather and organize client documentation and follow up on audit requests.
Learn and apply GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and Yellow Book standards.
Communicate audit questions and issues to senior team members.
Maintain professional conduct in all client and team interactions.
Participate in firm training and professional development activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Working toward 150 credit hours and CPA eligibility.
0–2 years of audit or public accounting experience (internship preferred).
Interest in Not‑for‑Profit and governmental auditing.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office; audit software exposure a plus.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
