NSBC - Automation Engineer

Basic Job Functions:

This position focuses on the engineering, analysis, optimization, and long-term reliability of Cold Mill automation and control systems. While hands-on troubleshooting is required, the primary responsibility is to apply electrical and control engineering principles to improve process reliability, safety, and performance. Able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including call-ins. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Applied knowledge of control systems modeling, tuning, and stability

• Ability to analyze electrical and control system behavior using first principles and data-driven methods

• Experience interpreting electrical schematics, control narratives, and functional specifications Preferred Qualifications:

• Drive systems and closed-loop motor control

• Signal Analysis (time domain and frequency domain)

• Understanding of power systems

• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers

Preferred Qualifications:

• Siemens PLC and VFD experience

• Knowledge of Cold Mill processes

• Four-year electrical engineering degree

• Human Machine Interface (HMI) experience
