PURPOSE STATEMENT

Performs diagnostic Nuclear Medicine testing, including general studies, cardiac studies, and computer interactions associated with these studies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Determine radioisotope to be used, consulting Radiologist when necessary
• Schedule patients, explain procedure, reassure patient and secure cooperation of patient during testing.
• Inject patient and complete testing.
• Observe radiation safety techniques including use of protective shielding, handling and disposal of radioisotopes.
• Document all testing procedures and alert RSO to any problems during testing.
• Complies with established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
• Maintain department records, reports, and files as required by the NRC.
• Adhere to all NRC policies and procedures and assists with inspections.
• Order radioisotopes from Radiopharmacy on a daily basis.
• Ability to send images to cloud system.
• Assist with maintenance and care of equipment, inform Director if repairs needed.
• Able to enter exams in the Radiology Information System and PACS.
• Able to enter exams in Cardiology reporting software.
• Attend in-service and other meetings as required.
• Perform duties of Radiologic Technologist as needed.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
• Registry with the ARRT in Radiology required and registry in Nuclear Medicine preferred.
• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
• Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
• Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
• Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
• Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
• Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to life and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
• Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
