The Nuclear Medicine Technologist -- Clinical Research Specialist

is responsible for coordinating all aspects of clinical trial start-up within Radiology shared services, including studies involving PET, SPECT, and theranostics. This role is essential to supporting the research mission at The Ohio State University by serving as a subject matter expert and partnering with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful imaging and treatment of patients across the Medical Center.

This individual will review clinical research protocols to assess feasibility and lead the set-up of nuclear medicine procedures in alignment with study requirements. They will develop and implement workflows for research procedures in collaboration with technologists and serve as a primary resource for physicians, technologists, radiation safety staff, and nuclear pharmacists. The role requires strong expertise in nuclear medicine imaging, radiotracers, and therapeutic applications, as well as the ability to translate complex protocols into efficient clinical workflows.

As Radiology operates as a shared service, this position supports a variety of treating teams, including oncology, neurology, and immunology, by providing both standard-of-care and research-specific imaging and therapy. The coordinator is accountable for ensuring seamless coordination of research workflows, including scheduling and ordering, while maintaining strong collaboration with external teams to support successful clinical trial execution.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable.

4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred; active registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) required. Current nuclear medicine license from Ohio Department of Health required; experience in clinical research capacity conducting clinical research studies preferred; experience as a nuclear medicine technologist providing patient care services required; clinical research certification from ACRP (Assn of Clinical Research Professionals) or SoCRA (Society of Clinical Research Associates) certification desired; Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
