Responsibilities 

  • Closely follows Southeastern Cardiology’s Nuclear Cardiology Practice Protocols 
  • Prepares and administers radioactive chemical compounds intravenously 
  • Performs all imaging procedures within scope of practice  
  • Completes computer processing and imaging enhancement daily 
  • Provides quality images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician in a timely manner for diagnostic interpretation 
  • Calibrates equipment daily   
  • Measures and records radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received and used 
  • Contacts pharmacy to order/cancel doses as needed to fit daily schedule 
  • Prepares patient for nuclear medicine procedure by explaining the procedure and obtaining signed consent in conjunction with support staff 
  • Works closely with Front Office staff to ensure that patients are received timely for their appointments 
  • Delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, as well as in accordance with policies and procedures of the office 
  • Effectively and respectfully communicates with other departments of the office 
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as computer/electronic medical record systems skills 
  • Exhibits an ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting 
  • Fosters a culture of teamwork and support of the nuclear team; help other technologists, i.e., difficult, or uncooperative patients, heavy workload, etc.  
  • Maintain and encourage an environment of a positive workplace. 
  • Accepts work-ins or stat testing as requested by providers/office 
  • Follows all Radiology/Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Safety policies  
  • Instruct new technologists and other team members on techniques, procedures, processes and equipment use as directed 
  • Communicate with management and vendors concerning equipment issues 
  • Other duties as assigned  

Requirements

Education and Qualifications 

  • Holds/maintains an active NMTCB or ARRT certification  
  • Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
