Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS) , Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting to fill a vacancy for a Nurse Clinician 4. This position works Monday-Friday, daytime hours.

Position Summary

As the Nurse Clinician 4, you will function independently in an advanced clinical role providing expert direct and indirect nursing care for residents who have a variety of medical, psychiatric, and nursing needs; while maintaining compliance with the American Nurses Association Standards (ANA), National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). In this role at WRC you will:

Actively participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team by providing initial and continuous advanced assessments of psychiatric clients with complex health care needs in the correctional setting.
Consult with other staff, including staff on other units and staff from the Department of Corrections, and in community agencies, regarding planning and evaluating care for residents with multiple medical and psychiatric problems.
Identify, develop, and implement plans to meet the learning needs of residents, staff, students, families, and community agencies related to both chronic and acute disease processes of residents.
Function as a lead worker to provide direction and guidance to unit staff and other nursing staff members to ensure the completion of daily assignments, chronic disease education, triage of health care needs, and on emergency care to residents.

Salary Information

The starting salary is between $49.73 and $54.46 per hour (approximately between $103,400 and $113,200 per year), or up to the appointment maximum at the time of the appointment, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

$1.40 /hour differential for 1st shift RNs that work hours between 6pm and 6am.
$3.90 /hour differential for permanent 2nd or 3rd shift RNs for work hours between 6pm to 6am.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction . This position is in pay schedule and range is 11/01.

Job Details

All appointees will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin. Eligible is defined as: you currently hold a license in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Wisconsin. License must be obtained by time of appointment.
Experience as a nurse in a correctional or mental health setting.
Experience using the nursing process to identify patient needs for nursing care.
Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or both of the following:

Certified as a Correctional Health Professional (CCHP) by the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare.
Experience directing interventions during medical treatment or psychiatric crisis.
