NURSE MANAGER

 

Are you passionate about helping the underserved while mentoring a high-performing clinical support team?

 

Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) provides patient centered, team-based primary care to residents of Western North Carolina. We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Nurse Manager who will provide strong leadership to our nursing team while continuously improving how nursing resources support patient care, providers, and the goals of our community health centers.

 

The Nurse Manager will lead, mentor and coach nursing staff at all three of our locations in Asheville, Candler, and Marion and be based at our Minnie Jones Health Center at 257 Biltmore Ave, Asheville, NC 28801. We are looking for a leader who is naturally curious about how work gets done and how it could be done better. This individual should be able to recognize both high performance and underperformance, ask difficult questions when necessary, and translate organizational priorities into clear expectations for staff.

 

The Nurse Manager schedule will be approximately 15-20% direct patient care and the remaining 75-80% operations management. The leader will be able to look beyond the work that needs to be accomplished today and evaluate how the nursing team can work more effectively tomorrow. They will be comfortable setting expectations, assessing individual and team performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and holding staff accountable for results.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Experience- Three years of nursing and 2 years’ supervisory experience in an ambulatory setting

  • Education- Bachelor's degree in nursing

  • Licensure/certification- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of North Carolina, BLS for the Healthcare Provider certification


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide strong, visible leadership to the nursing team by establishing clear expectations, priorities, accountability, and consistent standards of performance.

  • Evaluate nursing workflows and staffing practices to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, responsiveness, and use of nursing resources.

  • Strengthen nursing support for providers by evaluating how nursing work is organized, identifying gaps or delays, and developing processes that allow nurses to respond effectively to provider and patient-care needs.

  • Actively manage employee performance, recognizing strengths while also identifying areas where individual nurses need additional coaching, development, or greater accountability.

  • Develop employees through meaningful feedback and coaching

  • Establish and monitor meaningful performance metrics for the nursing team, using data to evaluate productivity, responsiveness, quality, workload, and effectiveness.

  • Use data to drive decisions and improvement

  • Identify opportunities to redesign work, eliminate unnecessary steps, clarify responsibilities, improve delegation, and ensure that nurses are working at the appropriate level of their training and licensure.

  • Lead change effectively, communicating the rationale for changes, engaging staff in solutions, and following through to ensure that improvements produce measurable results.
