Nurse Manager:MedSurg/Tele,Swing Bed,CCU

Reports to: Director of Inpatient Patient Care Services 

 Summary: 

Responsible for direction of patient care on the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Unit, 

Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and coordination of Swing Bed program. Provides leadership oversight of the staff members in the inpatient care units. Consults with staff, providers and nursing leadership on nursing issues and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in quality improvement initiatives. Maintains oversight and facilitates coordination of the Swing Bed program in coordination with the Integrated Care Team Director.

Education, Training or Certifications Required:

1. Current Maine licensure as a registered professional nurse.
2. CPR, ACLS and PALS certifications.
3. Bachelors degree/candidacy required.
4. Evidence of ongoing education in Management and Nursing. 

Experience Required:

1. Three or more years of recent experience in Medical Surgical Nursing; additionally 1-2 years critical care experience preferred. 
2. Management training/experience in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of

patient care preferred.

1. Excellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
2. Possess basic computer skills.

Cognitive Requirements:

1. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

3. Strong interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands:

1. Able to sit, stand and walk for an 8-12 hour shift.
2. Adequate hearing, vision, speech and manual dexterity.
3. General health must be such as to regularly work scheduled hours.
4. Able to lift and carry 25-50 pounds (assisting patients in and out of bed, etc.).

Environment:

1. Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
2. Potential for exposure to contagious diseases.
3. Potential for periods of high stress.
