The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced clinical care under approved practice guidelines in a variety of outpatient, inpatient, and specialty settings. This role is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients; developing and implementing care plans; coordinating care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams; and delivering high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered care.
• Maintain a professional image and provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff
• Assess patient needs using history, observation, physical examination, and diagnostic data
• Document findings; develop differential diagnoses; formulate plans of care and prognosis
• Plan, implement, and coordinate care to meet holistic, age-specific patient needs
• Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures per practice guidelines
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans
• Foster an environment of compassion, respect, integrity, and professionalism
• Hospitalist roles may follow 7-on/7-off schedules with day shift coverage and/or night call
• Urgent Care schedules vary by site and coverage needs
• Breast Program hours may follow weekday clinic schedules (e.g., Monday–Thursday and partial Friday)
• Occupational Health schedules align with clinic and employer-site needs
• Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited program required
• Experience requirements vary by department:
• New graduates may be considered in select departments (e.g., Surgery, Pain Management, Digestive Health, Cardiology, Neurosurgery)
• Two (2) years NP experience required for Urgent Care/Emergency Department and Hospitalist roles
• Three (3) years NP experience required for Occupational Health / Industry Clinic roles
• Cardiovascular nursing experience required for Vascular Services consideration
• Three (3) to five (5) years NP experience required for Breast Surgery / Breast Program roles
• Active South Carolina RN license with APRN designation verified by the SC LLR
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner by an approved accrediting agency
• Prescriptive authority (or eligibility to obtain, depending on role)
• BLS required
• ACLS required for Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, and Vascular roles
