JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the director of health services, plans, directs, and evaluates resident and employee health care in ambulatory health services. Examines and treats chronic and acute episodic illnesses, minor injuries, accidents, and other injuries/illnesses. Performs selected laboratory testing, referrals to physicians as needed, writes prescriptions, and performs office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. Works with the medical director in the care and treatment of residents and staff.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner or physician assistant program. Current approval by the joint Board of Medical Examiners and Board of Nursing to perform medical acts. Must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state. Because of the nature of responsibilities, it is preferable to have experience in counseling and teaching and have a master's degree.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (based on essential functions):
Able to lift 100 pounds, if necessary, to assist fallen resident. Able to lift 10 pounds for routine performance of essential functions.

An individual in this position may be exposed to:
Adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions
Blood borne pathogens
Physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.)
Chemical hazards.
