Position Details:
Hartford Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their Surgical Critical Care team! The Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are an essential part of the multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for complex surgical and trauma patients in the ICU. The critical patient population includes complex trauma, transplant, vascular, general surgery, neurosurgery, interventional radiology and other critical care patients as the service needs dictate.
Role : Open to Physician Assistants or Acute Care Nurse Practitioners
Location : 79 Jefferson Street, Hartford, 06102
Setting : Inpatient, Critical Care, Surgery
Schedule:
Full-time 3x13's, day/night rotating.

Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants Role Scope:
Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Advanced Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider's practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

Qualifications
Requirements:
Licensure : Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
Training : Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
Experience : New graduates welcome to apply!
We have extensive onboarding including a 6-month immersion orientation. We provide supervision to teach skills such as arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and transcranial dopplers.
Preferred:
1+ years in a critical care/acute care setting
