DYS Northeast Health Servicesâ¯is a program of Justice Resource Institute contracted to provide comprehensive health care for adolescent youth in residential detention at the Department of Youth Services in Middleton, MA.
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $40.00 to $60.00 per hour. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future.
In this role, you will:
The NP/PA will work as part of the health care team to provide comprehensive primary care for youth in residential DYS programs while abiding by the JRI/DYS policies established for these youth. This includes, but is not limited to, performing intake health evaluations and physical exams; diagnosing, treating and managing acute and chronic health problems; screening for high-risk behaviors; and coordinating community specialty appointments as needed. The NP/PA will utilize health education and counseling to assist the youth in developing positive health behaviors.
Utilize the most recent American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines and Periodicity Schedule, UpToDate diagnosis and treatment guidelines, and Massachusetts Department of Public Health guidelines and policies as a framework for clinical practice.
Evaluate the individual health status of youth in residential placement, including obtaining a comprehensive health history, TB and STI assessments, annual physicals, dental care, and follow-up as needed.
Screen for suicidal/homicidal risk and abuse/neglect.
Provide emergency care and first aid as needed.
Ensure youth are up to date on vaccinations.
Develop and implement a plan of care for acute and chronic illnesses.
Include the family/guardian in nonroutine medical care decisions.
Participate in 24/7 on-call coverage, alternating with other providers.
Maintain a collaborative relationship with other providers within the practice, within JRI, and within DYS.
Consult on treatment plans, discharge plans, and other issues with the interdisciplinary team as needed.
