Vascular Access/IV Therapy

The Vascular Access Nursing Team's Mission is to:

The MGH Vascular Access/IV Therapy team is:
A highly skilled group of nursing professionals who provide a key clinical service to our patients.

Members of the health care team collaborate to achieve the universal goal of safe, effective, and appropriate infusion therapy and vascular access.

Nurses perform independent nursing interventions related to infusion therapy and vascular access using appropriate clinical reasoning, nursing judgment, and critical decision-making skills.

Primary response team for vascular access needs including intraosseous insertions during rapid responses and codes.

RN's are highly valued by the staff nurses whom they support and partner with.

Many members of the staff hold positions in various IV/Infusion/Vascular Access Nursing associations.

The clinical nursing staff support the vision and practice under the guiding principles of the Department of Patient Care Services.

Qualifications:

Current Massachusetts RN License required.

AD with 3-5 years experience or BSN degree in nursing required.

Knowledge of IV Therapy Nursing

IV Therapy Nursing experience preferred.

Dedication to both bedside teaching and formal hospital education programs.

Ability to multi-task
Ability to develop and support unit-based quality improvement/research projects.
