Job Description - Nurse/ Wellness Coordinator


  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

Day-to-Day Medical

· Provide general medical assessments, first aid for on-the-job injuries and assessment of illness for employees.

· Discuss medicines, supplements and OTC products with employees.  Orders, sells and maintains inventory of supplements.

· Contacts physicians, pharmacists or medical specialists where permitted or required for purposes of assisting employees with medical needs or emergencies. Follows up with medical professionals or insurance cases where needed. 

· Actively involved in health benefits including determining corporate benefit plans and helping employees with benefit questions.

· Works with HR team and Supervisors/Managers to protect employee confidentiality under medical and HIPPA regulations but communicates any relative unprotected information relating to disability, illness, WC, and/or the need to meet with an employee for counseling and considers production and individual medical needs in a professional manner. 

· Ability to recognize and work with employees of many different cultures, and work with non-traditional medicine or alternative options.

· Maintain confidential employee medical files. 

Worker’s Compensation/OSHA

· Main contact for all Workers’ Compensation cases, documentation, and follow-up to maintain costs and get employees back to work in a timely and healthy manner.  

· Main contact to file worker’s comp cases with the Worker’s Comp carrier.

· Works in partnership with the Supervisors to communicate accidents and follow up on accident investigation and analysis reports.

· Update and maintain and file OSHA logs. 

· Works as an integral part of the Safety Committee to work on ergonomics and any injury or accident trends to eliminate or significantly improve results. 

Wellness Program

· Be available to employees for wellness coaching, counseling, and health education. 

· Leads the company health team and works to plan goals and outcomes. Proposes programs/solutions in conjunction with the Health Team recommendations.

· With the help of HR team, plans, organizes, and facilitates the Health Risk Assessment event.

· Promotes and manages the “health care incentive plan” and “wellness reimbursement plan.”

· Meets with employees to go over HRA/LSR results (for Helwig and Speer). Accurately figures and records LSR payout amounts. 

· Gathers Wellness information from community, WELCOA, Workshops, broker and peer relationships to enhance the HCP wellness program or to assist in dealing with challenges and opportunities.

· May consult and arrange for external professional experts to present programs or information to HCP employees – relating to measurable outcomes or needs. 

· The ability to present health information at employee meetings in a positive manner and address issues and concerns.

· Along with VP HR, co-chair the monthly weight loss program (TOPS) and Diabetic education classes.

Qualifications 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience 

· Nursing degree (LPN, RN, NP) 

· Minimum of three years’ experience in a clinical setting preferred

· Minimum of two years in a non-clinical setting (i.e., manufacturing or other) preferred

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, promotional literature, medical journals, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate and understand figures and amounts such as percentages, and probability, then apply these concepts to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
