Description:

At Hospice of the Piedmont, we are dedicated to providing compassionate care and support to individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses. We are seeking a part-time (24 hrs./week) Nursing Informatics Training Specialist to join our team and play a pivotal role in educating our staff on computerized healthcare systems, including the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

The Nursing Informatics Training Specialist will be responsible for training staff on the implementation and utilization of our healthcare information systems. This role requires a combination of clinical expertise, technical knowledge, and strong communication skills to ensure the effective adoption of EMR and related technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare EMR systems management, preferably in hospice care operations. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct training sessions for staff on various healthcare-related products, including EMR for Hospice and Palliative care, mileage manager software, SharePoint, mobile devices, remote access, DocuSign, fax software, and third-party clinical vendors.
  • Assist with the setup of various EMR software and provide ongoing support to users.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems/EMRs and serve as a resource for users agency wide.
  • Collaborate with IT Director(s) and clinical vendors to identify EMR/clinical software needs and facilitate communication.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of health information technology applications, tools, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements regarding the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient information.
  • Explore and recommend computer and information technologies relevant to hospice and palliative practice, education, and administration.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for health information technology, including the creation of operation manuals as needed.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Nursing Informatics, or a related technical field with clinical expertise (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in hospice care (preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • At least one year of experience in healthcare EMR systems management, preferably in hospice care operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 products and advanced computer skills
