NY Early Intervention Teacher

Ascend Autism (“Ascend”) is an approved and contracted New York Early Intervention Provider (NY EIP) for children under the age of three. Ascend also provides center-based and home-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and adolescents.

Ascend is currently seeking to hire an instructor for our center-based program in Hawthorne, NY.  Previous experience or familiarity with applied behavior analysis is preferred. Applicants must have the appropriate credentials and/or be approved to provide services for the NY EI program. Acceptable credentials include: SLP, OT, PT, SpEd (Birth-Grade 2), LMSW, LCSW, NP. We will not consider applicants without any of these licenses. Applicants must be willing to travel to Hawthorne, NY on a full-time basis. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Serve as head teacher for a NY EI Toddler Developmental Group classroom
• Supervise the 1:1 teachers within the classroom
• Review behavior and skill acquisition data collected during sessions to monitor progress
• Provide regular verbal and written progress updates
• Participate in team meetings and training workshops
• Be goal-oriented and maintain professionalism in all aspects of your work
• Arrive on time and remain consistent with scheduled sessions
• Follow the policies and procedures of Ascend Autism

Qualifications:

• SLP or OT or PT or LMSW or Birth-Grade 2 NYS Special Education teaching license or LMSW or LCSW or NP
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience working with children
• Experience working within the NY Early Intervention program (required)
• Experience working with children with developmental disabilities (required)
• Valid driver’s license and car insurance with access to reliable transportation
