Augustine Angels is hiring board-certified OB/GYN physicians to support the Indian Health Service (IHS) in Gallup, New Mexico.
📍 Location: Gallup Indian Medical Center, 516 East Nizhoni Blvd, Gallup, NM 87301
🕒 Schedule: Mix of outpatient clinics, inpatient consults/surgeries, and call coverage (weekday and weekend rotations)
💼 Contract Type: Federal Contract – Non-Personal Services
🏠 Housing: Not provided. Gallup is:
- ~2 hours west of Albuquerque, NM
- ~3 hours east of Flagstaff, AZ
- ~2 hours 15 minutes south of Farmington, NM (87401)
- ~1 hour west of Pueblo of Acoma, NM
Position Overview
Join our team of dedicated medical professionals delivering culturally competent, comprehensive OB/GYN care to the Navajo Nation. You will provide outpatient clinic services, surgical procedures (including minimally invasive), and inpatient consults, as well as call coverage in collaboration with certified nurse midwives (CNMs) and medical staff. This is a full-time federal contract position, with flexibility for rotational or long-term assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide OB/GYN consultation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and education for patients and families.
- Perform inpatient and outpatient OB/GYN surgical services, including laparoscopic procedures.
- Participate in call rotation (weekday 24-hour call and weekend call shared with another MD).
- Document care in the IHS Electronic Health Record (EHR), ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Collaborate with other physicians, CNMs, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Adhere to IHS standards, policies, and peer review processes.
Qualifications
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Minimum of 24 months OB/GYN experience (inpatient and outpatient).
- Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license.
- Current ACLS/BLS certification.
- Up-to-date immunizations (MMR, Varicella, TB, Hep B, Flu, Tdap).
- Must pass federal background/security clearance.
- Commitment to respectful, culturally sensitive care for American Indian/Alaska Native patients.
