MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education. A bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is required.
Experience – Two (2) years relevant experience as an Employee Health Nurse is preferred.
Licenses & Certification – Must possess Current State of Oklahoma Nursing License. COHN or the COHN-S certification preferred or must obtain after 2 years.
Knowledge & Skills –
Professional knowledge of nursing care principles, ethics, intervention, practices and processes required to assess nursing needs.
Knowledge of wide variety of medical disorders, normal course of diseases, potential complications and individual therapeutic interventions.
Skills in recognizing and determining possible causes for infectious diseases.
Must have strong computer and research skills to ensure they remain up to date with new developments, best practices and standards of care within the field of healthcare.
Knowledge of federal, tribal and state regulations regarding healthcare facilities.
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in human relations, public speaking, organization and presentation to groups large and small.
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with MCNDH administrative and medical staff, patients and their families, Tribal and Non-Tribal health care professionals and the general public both orally and in writing.
JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the position is to develop, implement, and evaluate an effective employee health program for the MCNDH inpatient and ambulatory facilities by providing education regarding employee healthcare and maintaining Employee Health requirements to the clinical and administrative staff in order to deliver and maintain the highest level of quality healthcare possible.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a clinical and/or hospital and office environment. There is common exposure to contagious disease and infection. Incumbent must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires some periods of standing and walking and standard office work. Requires recurring bending, lifting, squatting, stretching and sitting. Must manage stress under a variety of sometimes adverse circumstances.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:
Maintains confidential employment-related health records on all MCNDH employees.
Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information and responding to requests; building rapport, participating in team problem-solving methods.
Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training as needed.
Maintains day to day staffing assignments and adequate staffing ratios.
Will develop and maintain, alongside Human Resources, policies and procedures for pre-employment and on-boarding processes for employees.
Will be responsible for all pre-employment testing and vaccination processes, annual N95/TB/Influenza testing/screening and/or vaccinations, the Respiratory Protection Program and the management of potential blood exposures, employee illnesses and disease outbreaks
Assess the health needs of employees and intervenes to promote and maintain a high level of wellness throughout MCNDH.
Trends employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues.
Maintains summaries and written reports as required for employee illness/injury reporting.
Identify specific risks of infection associated with employment in individual areas and provides methods to monitor, prevent and treat accordingly.
Provides health related counseling for employees within the scope of nursing knowledge and practice.
Plans, implements and conducts individual or group in-service training or informational programs to employees on a variety of nursing and health education issues.
Strives to manage situations in a reduced risk manner. Functions within the RN scope of practice.
Assists in the attempt to prevent the transmission of infection between the employee and patient population.
Maintains supplies inventory by reviewing usage reports; identifying trends, anticipating needed supplies; approving requisitions and cost allocations. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Assists with contact tracing, documentation, and notification as needed.
Regular attendance is required. Travel to other MCNDH facilities will be required, occasional travel in state and out of state to educational training conferences.
