Occupational Health Support Staff Hearing Conservation

The Occupational Health Support Staff – Hearing Conservation position supports occupational health and medical surveillance programs with a primary focus on audiometric testing and hearing conservation compliance. This role partners with the clinical team to conduct screenings, coordinate testing activities, maintain accurate records, and ensure regulatory requirements are met. The position plays a key role in supporting team member health, workplace safety, and the effectiveness of occupational health programs. The position collaborates closely with operations management, environmental health and safety, and plant administrators for scheduling and compliance. 

Key Responsibilities 

The key responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

• Conduct annual audiometric testing and hearing conservation screenings for team members in accordance with regulatory and company requirements. 
• Educate team members on hearing conservation programs, noise exposure risks, and proper use and care of hearing protection devices. 
• Maintain audiometric equipment and ensure calibration, quality control, and maintenance requirements are completed and documented. 
• Accurately document screening results, testing information, and related activities within the electronic medical record and other required systems. 
• Schedule and coordinate hearing conservation testing, follow-up evaluations, and medical surveillance appointments. 
• Notify clinical staff of abnormal findings and assist with follow-up activities as directed. 
• Support occupational health surveillance programs by assisting with vision screening, drug testing, breath alcohol testing, spirometry, and other testing activities as assigned. 
• Assist with onboarding, periodic, and regulatory medical surveillance requirements. 
• Maintain inventory of clinic supplies, testing materials, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and operational readiness. 
• Ensure confidentiality and security of team member health information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies. 
• Support OSHA, hearing conservation, and other regulatory recordkeeping requirements. 
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe testing environment. 
• Assist with data collection, reporting, and administrative tasks related to occupational health programs. 
• Collaborate with occupational health staff, managers, Human Resources, and Environmental Health & Safety personnel to support program effectiveness and team member wellness initiatives. 
• Provide exceptional customer service while promoting a positive experience for team members participating in occupational health programs. 

 Education and Experience 

• High school diploma or equivalent required. 
• Associate degree in a healthcare-related field preferred. 
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Athletic Trainer, Medical Technician, or equivalent healthcare experience preferred. 
• Experience performing medical screenings, occupational health testing, or working in a healthcare environment preferred. 
• Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or occupational health setting preferred. 

Certifications 

• Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) Certification preferred or willingness to obtain within a designated timeframe. 
• Current CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred. 
• Drug testing, breath alcohol testing, or other occupational health certifications preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

• Knowledge of hearing conservation principles and occupational health practices preferred. 
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clinical staff. 
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 
• Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and confidential medical record handling. 
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications. 
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team. 

Travel 

• Occasional local travel may be required. Up to 10% travel may be necessary to support occupational health operations and training activities.
