Who You Are

You are a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist who is committed to helping individuals overcome barriers to daily functioning and community reintegration. You bring a trauma-informed, client-centered approach and are comfortable working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health conditions.

You are independent, clinically sound, and adaptable, with the ability to deliver services across interdisciplinary settings while maintaining high standards of professionalism, documentation, and ethical care. You value collaboration, yet are confident working autonomously in a 1099 contractor capacity.

What You Will Do

As the Occupational Therapist, you will provide comprehensive, trauma-informed occupational therapy services that support clients in developing, recovering, and maintaining essential life skills for independent living and community integration.

Clinical Assessment & Treatment Planning

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations, including assessments of ADLs and IADLs 
  • Develop individualized treatment plans aligned with client goals, clinical recommendations, and program needs 

Therapeutic Interventions

  • Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions focused on: 
    • Life skills development 
    • Cognitive functioning 
    • Emotional regulation 
    • Vocational readiness 
    • Community reintegration 
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions as clinically appropriate 

Care Coordination & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including behavioral health, medical, and case management staff 
  • Participate in case conferences, treatment team meetings, and discharge planning 
  • Provide recommendations for adaptive equipment and environmental modifications when needed 

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency policy and regulatory standards (e.g., Medicaid/Medicare and applicable federal regulations) 
  • Ensure all documentation is completed within required timeframes (typically within 72 hours or per agency standard) 
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and adhere to all organizational policies and ethical standards 

Contractor Expectations (1099 Independent Contractor Role)

  • Maintain active professional liability (malpractice) insurance 
  • Responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance, and benefits (no employer-sponsored benefits provided) 
  • Provide services on an as needed or scheduled contractual basis 
  • Adhere to agreed-upon service rates, schedules, and deliverables 
  • Maintain all required licensure, certification, and credentials throughout the contract period 
  • Ensure professional independence while integrating effectively into multidisciplinary care teams

Requirements

 Requirements / What You Will Bring 

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program 
  • Active and unrestricted Florida Occupational Therapist license 
  • Current NBCOT certification 
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and substance use disorders (preferred) 
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles 
  • Excellent clinical assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills 
  • Cultural competence and ability to work effectively with diverse populations 
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems 
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
