Occupational Therapist

Occupational Therapist Summary: 

Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans to maintain patient well- being. Evaluates occupational roles and occupational performance of patients with physical, psychosocial, and/or cognitive impairments. Provides interventions for deficits and elicits responses. 

What You Will Do On A Daily Basis:

• Performs clinical assessment; identifies patient needs and appropriateness of patient.


• Documents, prepare/revises and completes a Plan of Care, progress notes, phone orders and other clinical record documentation on an ongoing basis.


• Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.


• Participates in the Interdisciplinary Group/Team (IDG/IDT) care planning process.


• Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating/performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.


• Assesses and facilitate through direct therapeutic intervention patient’s ROM, strength, coordination, need for and use of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications, functional mobility and safety issues as related to patient’s


• ADL performance needs. Fabricate and maintain adaptive equipment and hand splints.


• Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills; facilitates the use of these skills by other team members to achieve desirable outcomes.


• Evaluates patient occupational performance in the areas of self-care, work, leisure, and rest. Assess sensory-motor neuromuscular, psycho-social, and cognitive-perceptual components of occupational behavior. Assess physical, social, and cultural components of the patient’s occupational environment.

Background You Will Need:

• Master’s Degree on Occupational Therapy or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or successor organizations of ACOTE and is eligible to take, or has successfully completed the entry level certifications examination for occupational therapists developed and administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.


• Two years of experience as an occupational therapist, in an acute care or rehabilitation setting, recommended.


• Current state license as an occupational therapist. Current driver’s license.
