Occupational Therapist – Travel Position

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join a rehabilitation team in Rio Rancho, NM, on a travel contract. The Occupational Therapist will assess and treat patients to improve their ability to perform daily living and work-related tasks, fostering independence and quality of life. The ideal candidate is compassionate, adaptable, and skilled in providing therapy in inpatient or outpatient rehab settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine functional abilities, cognitive skills, and therapy needs.


• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary staff.


• Provide therapeutic interventions to enhance self-care, fine motor skills, mobility, and use of adaptive equipment.


• Educate patients and caregivers on therapy goals, safety techniques, and home exercise programs.


• Accurately document evaluations, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.


• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.


• Promote safety, independence, and participation in daily living through evidence-based therapy practices.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.


• Current and valid Occupational Therapist license in New Mexico (or compact license).


• Minimum of 1 year of recent occupational therapy experience in rehabilitation or related settings.


• Current certification in Basic Life Support.


• COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.


• Strong communication, organizational, and clinical reasoning skills.


• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to rehabilitation care.
