Job Overview
A leading healthcare organization is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join its Rehabilitation team in Yuma, Arizona.
The Occupational Therapist will evaluate patients' functional abilities, develop individualized plans of care, provide skilled therapeutic interventions, and help patients regain the independence needed for daily activities and safe transitions of care.
This position offers a flexible 8- or 10-hour day-shift schedule along with substantial sign-on, relocation, and temporary housing assistance for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
Evaluate patients' functional abilities, limitations, and Occupational Therapy needs
Complete comprehensive evaluations within established department timeframes
Develop individualized plans of care with functional and measurable treatment goals
Identify and prioritize factors limiting a patient's independence and daily functioning
Collaborate with patients and caregivers when establishing treatment goals
Provide skilled interventions addressing mobility, self-care, activities of daily living, strength, coordination, cognition, and functional independence
Assess patient response to treatment and modify the plan of care when clinically appropriate
Initiate and participate in discharge planning
Provide education to patients, families, caregivers, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members
Communicate evaluation findings, treatment outcomes, and patient progress clearly and promptly
Contact physicians when clarification or modification of treatment orders is appropriate
Maintain complete and timely clinical documentation according to professional and regulatory standards
Reassess treatment goals and document patient progress or barriers to improvement
Adapt to changing caseloads, schedules, and staffing needs
Assist in other rehabilitation or patient-care areas when needed
Provide appropriate direction and delegation to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, therapy technicians, and students
Participate in orientation and training of rehabilitation staff
Ensure staff competency before delegating patient-care responsibilities
Participate in departmental and facility process-improvement initiatives
Meet established productivity and documentation standards
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, rehabilitation professionals, community providers, and outside healthcare organizations to coordinate patient care
Qualifications
Required
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
Successful completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy educational program
Current Arizona Occupational Therapist license
Current Basic Life Support certification
Strong clinical assessment and treatment-planning abilities
Knowledge of evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions
Ability to independently evaluate patients and establish individualized plans of care
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to provide appropriate patient and caregiver education
Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills
Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Ability to become proficient with electronic documentation and other computer applications used in patient care
Preferred
One or more years of Occupational Therapist experience in a hospital setting
Experience supervising or directing Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, therapy technicians, or students
Sign-On & Relocation Support
Qualified candidates may be eligible for:
$5,000 sign-on bonus with a one-year employment commitment
$10,000 sign-on bonus with a two-year employment commitment
$2,500 relocation assistance with a one-year commitment
$5,000 relocation assistance with a two-year commitment
Up to three months of temporary furnished housing for qualifying relocating candidates
Relocation and housing assistance are taxable benefits and may be subject to additional eligibility requirements.
