Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to join a dynamic rehabilitation team. The Occupational Therapist will work closely with an interdisciplinary team, including nurses, physicians, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals, to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work effectively with a diverse patient population and provide individualized therapy focused on improving independence, function, safety, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients in short- and long-term residential programs.
Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.
Provide therapy interventions designed to:
Promote healing and recovery.
Restore or maintain function.
Compensate or adapt to physical and functional impairments.
Prevent complications related to injury or impairment.
Identify patient needs and make appropriate referrals to other disciplines and/or durable medical equipment resources.
Educate and train patients and caregivers in skills and functions necessary to promote independence and productivity.
Assess patients' home environments to support safe community reintegration.
Provide hands-on, one-on-one occupational therapy treatment.
Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), transfers, lifting, and other functional activities while maintaining safety.
Participate in community reintegration outings and patient home evaluations as needed.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records and documentation through electronic medical records (EMR).
Prepare reports and complete telephone consultations as required.
Communicate continually with Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and other rehabilitation team members to ensure effective individualized treatment outcomes.
Supervise COTAs in accordance with applicable state regulations and practice guidelines.
Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration, goal setting, and professional education activities.
Maintain patient confidentiality and follow applicable healthcare policies and regulations.
Required Qualifications
Must be eligible to work for a U.S. employer.
Current Occupational Therapist license in the State of Illinois or eligibility for Illinois licensure in accordance with state practice requirements.
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program accredited according to AOTA/ACOTE standards.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain certification within 45 days of hire.
Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work effectively with patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare/rehabilitation environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a rehabilitation setting preferred.
Experience working with short- and long-term residential patients.
Experience with ADLs, functional mobility, patient/caregiver education, home assessments, and community reintegration.
Experience working with interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams.
