Occupational Therapist - Hand/Upper Extremity

Since 1995, South Florida Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine has been dedicated to providing comprehensive orthopaedic and musculoskeletal care for patients along southeast Florida’s Treasure Coast. We are looking for a skilled and caring Occupational Therapist (OT) who understands and is committed to exceptional professional standards and quality patient care. Our Occupational Therapists are an integral part of the patient care and rehabilitation programs we provide. Our Occupational Therapists collaborate closely with our physicians, clinical staff and OT teams to manage and advance the quality of care we administer.

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, assessment, treatment program planning and implementation, re-evaluation, and discharge of hand therapy patients in an attractive surgical orthopaedic practice setting. Our Occupational Therapists collaborate closely with orthopaedic hand surgeons and work closely with a practicing CHT.

In this role, you will:

· Conduct occupational therapy evaluations including patient history and objective findings and design programs tailored to the individual needs of the patient

· You will review physician orders and office notes, diagnostic testing results, etc. to establish an appropriate treatment plan based on clinical evaluation findings.

· Provide discharge planning and instruction to patient and family members.

· Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and aides.

Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university.

· Certified Hand Therapist preferred. OT must be willing to obtain CHT certification.

· Current Florida licensure.

· Minimum five (5) years experience required in hand, wrist and shoulder rehabilitation, customized splinting for post-op care.

· Basic computer skills required.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Physical Demands:

· Standing and walking for extended periods of time.

· Lifting, pulling, and stooping when assisting patients up to 300 lbs.

· Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
