Automotive Office Manager — GM Experience Preferred

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Office Manager with General Motors dealership experience to lead the accounting office functions for our Michigan City location. This full-time, Monday through Friday position is ideal for a detail-oriented dealership accounting professional who can manage daily office operations, support department leaders, and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the office staff, including daily workflow, training, guidance, and follow-up.
- Attend manager meetings and provide accounting, reporting, and operational updates as needed.
- Oversee daily banking activities, deposits, cash management, and related reconciliations.
- Manage floorplan activity, including payoffs, reconciliations, reporting, and floorplan audits.
- Prepare, review, and reconcile factory statements in accordance with General Motors.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and provide timely reporting to dealership leadership.
- Reconcile all account schedules and ensure outstanding items are researched and resolved promptly.
- Monitor general ledger activity, month-end close processes, schedules, journals, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure manufacturer accounts, receivables, payables, incentives, warranty, and related schedules are accurate and current.
- Maintain strong internal controls, accurate records, and compliance with dealership policies and applicable regulations.
- Partner with department managers to answer questions, resolve accounting issues, and support overall dealership operations.
- Prepare monthly sales commissions accurately and timely.
Qualifications
- General Motors dealership accounting experience preferred.
- Prior automotive office manager, accounting manager, or similar dealership office leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dealership financial statements, factory statements, floorplan, banking, schedules, and month-end close.
- Ability to lead, train, and manage office staff in a fast-paced dealership environment.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with managers, employees, vendors, lenders, and manufacturer representatives.
- Proficiency with dealership management systems and Microsoft Office products.
