Description

Task Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Export Controls Compliance Team in the review and approval of export-controlled shipments (Compliance Defense process).
  • Assess the acceptability of export-controlled shipments following the policies of the Company and the internal standards of the Company as set by the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.
  • Communicate with the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with the policies of the Company. 
  • Support the Head of the Export Controls Compliance Team in the design and implementation of internal processes and ongoing projects. 
  • Keep a very good knowledge of export control regulations and sanctions applicable to the business of Cargolux. 
  • Give regular training and guidance to other Area 1 employees about the Export Controls policy and the transportation of export-controlled goods and in general about the Export Controls policy
  • Act as contact and support point for Area 1 Sales and Ops for all Export Controls related matters
  • Ensure communication to the relevant departments and stations/GSAs about the regulatory amendments which could have an influence on them (with particular attention to export control matters). 
  • Pay particular attention to the Compliance risks which could affect the company, monitor their evolution and helps design and implement controls to diminish those risks.  
  • Provide reports on a regular basis to the Head of department on the achievement of his/her objectives.  
  • Assist the Head of the department in its general compliance functions with particular dedication to the Compliance Defense process. 
  • Support the Export Controls Compliance Team in the general tasks of the unit. 

 

Essential Requirements For The Position:

  • Preferably between 3 and 5 years of experience in a similar position or a position with similar responsibilities.
  • Hold a higher education degree, preferably in the Legal or International Affairs field.
  • High degree of verbal & written English is mandatory - additional languages (especially Spanish/French) are considered an advantage.
  • Be ethics-oriented and possess a strong moral compass.
  • Be trustworthy, honest and integer.  
  • Strong reporting and organizational skills, including maintenance and updating documentation databases.
  • Possess excellent communication & social skills.
  • Experience in training is considered an advantage. 
  • People and team oriented with the capacity to work independently as well. 
  • Ability to multi-task between several open projects; good time management skills.  

 

 Working Conditions:

  • Full time & permanent contract.
  • The position holder is based in Houston. 

  • The position demands a regular presence in the office and requires vacation and other absences to be planned so as to avoid conflicting with service needs. 

  • Occasional travel may be required. 

  • Flexibility may be needed with working hours. The position holder shall keep informed their line manager on their whereabouts and the means of telecommunications through which they will be reachable for urgent company needs, while on company mission.
