Description

Operates specialized MRI imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images, as directed by physicians.  Performs MRI studies of anatomical areas as ordered/directed, according to established standards and procedures.



Responsibilities
  1. Performs MRI imaging procedures.                    
  2. Applies the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and the patients’ needs.                   
  3. Operates and/or prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures.     
  4. Obtains venous access as needed per protocol. 
  5. Assists in administering opaque media and or loading power injector under aseptic technique.
  6. Positions patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study.                      
  7. Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures by informing the patient of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged and any specific instructions the patient may need.     
  8. Reviews all patient safety questionnaire prior to introducing any patients into the MRI scan room.    
  9. Ensures all MRI images are appropriately labeled as specified by the department SOP.           
  10. Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures images are transmitted to PACS in a timely fashion.
  11. Assists with ACR accreditation. 
  12. Assists with departmental QA/QC program.                   
  13. Ensures that all studies performed are completed in EPIC Radiant in a timely fashion.           
  14. Ensures Radiology room and equipment cleanliness, at the start and at the end of the shift, to include removal of soiled or dirty linen.              
  15. Scans patient related documents             
  16. Maintains supplies and accessories in MRI suite necessary to safely perform duties, as required.              
  17. Accurately records all required patient tracking information into EPIC Radiant.                     
  18. Informs supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions.            
  19. Assists physician directly as required.                                        
  20. Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel.                
  21. Maintains safety standards via strict adherence to safety guidelines in order to prevent the introduction of ferromagnetic material into the scan room.                    
  22. Protects self, patients, and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.                   
  23. Attends in-services and other professional development meetings as required.             
  24. Maintains in good standing, licensure specific to job to include adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
  25. Maintains appropriate Continuing Medical Education credits in accordance with the guidelines set by the ARRT.
  26. Other relevant duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive MRI experience (Will consider new graduates). Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology.
  • Licensed by the State of New York, ARRT and MRI and IV certification, Current BLS certification. 

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $51.87 - $54.98 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
