On- Snow Ski & Ride Supervisor - Winter 26/27

The On-Snow Supervisor is a front-line field leader within the Ski & Ride School management team. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide visible, active leadership throughout the on-snow operation and ensure the safe, consistent, and high-quality delivery of Ski & Ride School products.

The On-Snow Supervisor serves as the primary leadership resource for instructors in the field. Through active observation, coaching, mentoring, problem solving, and timely intervention, the Supervisor supports instructor performance, guest experience, instructional quality, and the safety culture of the Ski & Ride School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Field Leadership

• Maintain an active and visible on-snow presence throughout scheduled lesson periods.


• Circulate regularly through assigned teaching areas and terrain to maintain awareness of Ski & Ride School operations.


• Serve as the primary field-level leadership resource for instructors during lessons.


• Make timely decisions and take appropriate action when safety, instructional quality, guest experience, staffing, or operational concerns arise.


• Maintain effective radio communication and remain available to instructors, fellow supervisors, managers, Ski Patrol, and other operational partners.


• Support management priorities and consistently reinforce Ski & Ride School expectations in the field.

Instructor Observation and Coaching

• Routinely observe lessons and instructor performance on snow.


• Evaluate instructor effectiveness in guest safety and group management, teaching and communication, terrain selection, class pacing and progression, student engagement, professionalism, guest service, and application of Ski & Ride School teaching and technical standards.


• Provide timely, constructive feedback and coaching to instructors.


• Recognize and reinforce excellent performance.


• Identify instructors requiring additional coaching, training, or management support.


• Follow up on previous coaching to encourage continued development and accountability.


• Communicate significant or recurring performance concerns to management.

Employee Development

• Actively mentor instructors and support their professional development.


• Provide additional guidance and observation for new instructors, Junior Instructors, and developing staff.


• Help instructors translate formal training and clinics into effective real-world teaching.


• Model professional conduct, sound judgment, strong guest service, and Ski & Ride School standards.

Safety and Risk Management

• Promote and model a proactive safety culture.


• Observe lessons and teaching areas for unsafe practices, lift riding, inappropriate terrain choices, poor stopping locations, excessive group separation, environmental hazards, or other conditions that could negatively affect guests or employees.


• Intervene promptly when an immediate safety concern is identified.


• Reinforce applicable mountain safety expectations and Ski & Ride School procedures.


• Assist instructors during incidents and coordinate with Ski Patrol and management when appropriate.


• Report significant safety concerns, incidents, or developing patterns to management.

Guest Experience

• Monitor the quality of the guest experience throughout the lesson day.


• Support instructors in resolving appropriate guest issues before they escalate.


• Interact professionally and positively with guests and parents.


• Escalate significant guest concerns to management when necessary.

Daily Lesson Operations

• Participate actively in morning and afternoon lineups.


• Responsible for Facilities set up


• Assist in ensuring instructors and guests are appropriately matched according to ability, certification, experience, product requirements, and guest needs.


• Support class balancing, splits, instructor substitutions, terrain adjustments, and other real-time operational changes.


• Respond to changing mountain, weather, staffing, and guest conditions.

Once lessons are deployed, the Supervisor transitions from lineup responsibilities to active field supervision.
