Job Description - Oncology Medical Advisor (M.D.)


A global bio-pharmaceutical company is seeking a Medical Advisor – Oncology to lead medical strategy and scientific activities within its oncology portfolio. Working closely with local and global medical teams, this role is responsible for developing and executing the Country Medical Affairs Plan (CMAP), generating scientific insights, and fostering strategic partnerships with leading oncology experts.

The position plays a key role in shaping medical strategy, supporting evidence generation, and advancing the development and lifecycle management of innovative oncology therapies.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and execute the Country Medical Affairs Plan (CMAP) for the assigned oncology portfolio in alignment with global and local medical strategy

  • Lead scientific implementation of medical plans in collaboration with Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) and cross-functional teams

  • Collect, analyze, and communicate scientific insights to support local and global medical decision-making

  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), investigators, and other oncology stakeholders through scientific exchange

  • Plan and lead advisory boards, expert meetings, and other medical programs to gather insights and inform strategy

  • Identify unmet educational needs and develop medical education initiatives for healthcare professionals

  • Support early pipeline and lifecycle management activities by providing medical insights on disease areas, treatment landscapes, and competitive intelligence

  • Collaborate with regional and global teams on strategic medical initiatives and evidence-generation activities






Requirements

Required Experience



  • Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

  • Experience in Oncology or a closely related therapeutic area.

  • Strong understanding of medical strategy development, scientific engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Experience partnering with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), advisory boards, and external healthcare stakeholders.

  • Solid knowledge of clinical development, evidence generation, medical education, and Japan's pharmaceutical regulations, reimbursement system, and clinical research guidelines.

  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical, research, or physician experience within the healthcare sector.

  • Business-level English and native-level Japanese.

Preferred Experience



  • Experience supporting oncology product launches, lifecycle management, or early pipeline/asset evaluation.

  • Experience authoring publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and/or presenting research at national or international scientific conferences.

  • Licensed physician with significant clinical practice experience is preferred.
