Job Description - ONCOLOGY MEDICAL SPECIALIST/LPN (FULL TIME)

The Oncology Medical Specialist/ LPN assists in patient care in the office and infusion area, and is responsible for the safe care & transport of patients. Completes appropriate documentation of services Performs procedures as appropriate and scope of care. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the office. Maintains records, assists with basic examinations, obtains vital signs, and height and weight of patients. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports Wayne Memorial Hospital's vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.

Employee authorization for access to EPHI is determined by job function and is under the direction of his/her Department Director or Nurse Manager.

Employee will be required to be readily available to work during any weather related incidents or other natural disasters and/or any emergency situation that may arise.

  • Basic Life Support required
  • Current LPN license in the state of Georgia

Ability to practice nursing as described by the following definition: "The diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health alterations." Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including but not limited to administering medications and treatment, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others. The successful candidate will be required to pass competencies for this position.
