Job Description - Online Student Success Coordinator II

The Online Student Success Coordinator serves as a key member of the School of Aeronautics Student Success team, supporting undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students with a primary focus on the online community. This role works closely with the Associate Director of Student Success to enhance student engagement, streamline enrollment processes, and remove barriers to academic progression. The coordinator will champion initiatives that foster academic achievement, professional growth, and spiritual development, ensuring an exceptional student experience from admission through graduation. Responsibilities include proactive communication, data management, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to improve retention and graduation rates while maintaining a Christ-centered approach to student support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Support & Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for online students, providing timely and professional assistance via email, phone, and virtual platforms.
  • Deliver accurate and current information on scholarships, partnerships, and academic resources.
  • Support spiritual development by encouraging participation in faith-based opportunities and fostering a Christ-centered student experience.

Enrollment & Advising Support

  • Assist with online student enrollment processes, ensuring clarity and efficiency.
  • Maintain and update training guides for Online and Residential Enrollment/Advising teams.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director on course demand analysis, scheduling, and enrollment management for online programs.

Data Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Collect, organize, and analyze student data to identify trends and friction points impacting retention and graduation.
  • Contribute to strategies that enhance student success and experience through data-driven decision-making.

Community Building & Outreach

  • Engage alumni and current students through virtual events and communication initiatives.
  • Participate in recruiting and outreach activities, representing the School of Aeronautics in online forums and events.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Attend departmental meetings, curriculum discussions, and daily check-ins to ensure alignment with institutional goals.
  • Partner with the Associate Director to address students of concern and implement success plans.
  • Support school-wide events such as CFAW, Welcome Week, Experience LU, and academic success workshops as needed.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Director of Student Success.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of office experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Understanding of how to research and use knowledge in strategic planning for student support services.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Organization, leadership, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Academic Advising is preferred.
  • Experience with organizational tools, like: CRM, Course Registration Tool, Qualtrics, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Kaltura, ATLAS, Tableau, and ARGOS.
  • Basic understanding of FTAs, FAA, SACs, and VA/Military Affairs to better assist the students.

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB

Communication and Comprehension

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow the professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government, and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer and scheduling skills.

Problem-Solving

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak to communicate effectively orally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting.  It is well lit, and the noise level is moderate.  The working environment also includes the facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.    

Driving Requirements

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel to perform the essential functions of this position.  Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
