Cornerstone Christian Academy Online is part of the ministry of Cornerstone Christian Academy, providing a student-driven online educational option for students in grades 5-12. Under the general supervision of the Head of School and the daily supervision of the Director, the Teacher will oversee the Biblically-grounded academic instruction and take advantage of teaching opportunities through grading assignments and email communication. This individual will serve as a minister of Christ in all activities performed as an employee of Cornerstone Christian Academy/Cornerstone Chapel. The Teacher will influence positive, God-honoring student behavior based on the designed course content while facilitating student learning. As a Christian role model for his/her students, the Teacher must exhibit patience, grace, humility and integrity when working with administration, faculty, students and parents. The Teacher must have a strong, active and committed relationship with Jesus Christ, a willingness to lead with a humble heart, a passion for Christian education, and a calling to serve at Cornerstone Christian Academy Online.
Online needs for 2025-2026: 9-12 English, High Level Math (Geometry, Alg 2, Pre-Calc), 5-12 Science, Business and STEM electives.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or Master's Degree required from an accredited college or university
Experience
Two or more years of online teaching experience and/or preparation in Biblically-centered academic instruction preferred
Experience developing and implementing online curriculum preferred
Certifications/Licenses
A valid teaching credential/certificate/license for corresponding age/grade level is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with leadership, peers, faculty, students, parents, volunteers and the external community
Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
Create a teacher presence and a sense of community within the virtual classroom
Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to troubleshoot problems when needed
Technologies
Must be skilled at current educational technology and its applications within the school, and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Show confidence in the use of learning technologies and take advantage of provided tools and platforms (Learning Management System (LMS), academic integrity software, etc.)
Ability to embrace innovation as a tool to teach, engage, and motivate students
Have access to and maintain necessary computer equipment for essential job functions and responsibilities
Work Environment Expectations
Majority of work is performed in front of a computer and on the telephone; must have the ability to use the computer and remain stationary for long periods of time

Work Hours
As needed to ensure student success including:
Check CCA email and LMS messages daily and responding to student questions or needs within 24 hours*
Maintain regular communication with students and families
Daily monitor student progress via the learning management system and grade lessons within 24 hours*
Grade projects and essays in a timely manner, usually within 48 hours*
Initiate contact with parents and/or administration when concerns arise
*Deviation from the established response, grading, and general monitoring time frames must be communicated to and approved by administration.
Job Functions and Tasks
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Facilitate student learning from the approved curriculum in accordance with the assigned schedule.
Oversee lesson activities, assignments and assessments that enhance learning and encourage student engagement and responsibility
Assist students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes when called upon to do so
Implement and enforce school’s disciplinary policies and standards of behavior
Maintain regular and accurate record of grading and communication
Assist students with technical issues or direct them to technical support
Consistently initiate communication with all students and their parents as needed regarding slow progress and/or low grades
Communicate promptly to students and parents (within 24 hours)
Daily monitoring student progress via the learning management system and grade lessons within 24 hours
Grade projects and essays in a timely manner, usually within 48 hours
Monitor students’ management of their time and intervene when necessary; report periods (longer than two weeks) of non-work to administration
Provide regular and timely feedback to students
Regularly document important interactions, including notes on struggling students and offer assistance
Show evidence of a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
Show enthusiasm for work
Demonstrate a willingness to pray for/with a student should the need arise
Essential Functions – Administrative & Professional Responsibilities
Collaborate with colleagues and administration for the sharing of ideas, professional development, etc.
Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth
Demonstrate understanding of how to work with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds
Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public
Lead by example to encourage the development of a positive Christian school culture in both face to face and electronic communication
Treat all students with kindness and respect and continually reinforce their self-worth in Christ while equipping them with knowledge and tools needed to make positive life choices
Attend and participate in all scheduled in-service and CCA Online staff meetings (virtually).
Essential Functions - Instructional
Demonstrate mastery of the subject areas taught and the developmental characteristics of the assigned grade level
Regularly integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout all activities and lesson plans
Communicate clearly and concisely with students to ensure understanding of subject matter
Facilitate timely feedback with students and parents to ensure students remain on track with learning goals and objectives
