Glimpse of the Job

The Texas A&M University Libraries are excited to welcome a new Open Educational Resources Librarian for Funding, Facilitation and Outreach. This Librarian will play an exciting role on the OpenEd team by helping faculty access funding and support to adopt, adapt, or create high‑quality Open Educational Resources (OER) and other affordable course materials. In this position, you’ll actively connect instructors with internal and external grant opportunities, offer hands‑on administrative and technical support, and build strong relationships across campus to champion open education.

Your work will directly advance student success by developing programs that lower the cost of learning materials and by empowering faculty to bring innovative, affordable resources into their courses.

The selected candidate will be expected to work on-site at our College Station campus. This is an in-person opportunity.

Salary: $62,900.00 annually and a $3,000.00 stipend for professional development 

Opportunities to Contribute:

  • Coordinate and communicate internal and external funding opportunities for Open Educational Resources (OER), including tracking cycles, deadlines, and application requirements.

  • Build and maintain relationships with campus, state, and national OER funding partners.

  • Support faculty in locating, creating, and managing openly licensed and library‑licensed course materials.

  • Collaborate with campus partners to design, deliver, assess, and promote Open Education programs and present OpenEd services at university events.

  • Monitor and report on OER development, usage, and funding outcomes using institutional data sources.

  • Provide guidance on instructional design and funding needs within an open practices framework.

  • Stay current with library technologies, copyright, fair use, and trends in open educational practices.

  • Engage in scholarly and professional development to bring new ideas and technologies into library services.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library or Information Science by start date

  • Ability to lift and move medium weight objects. 

  • Ability to handle material which can contain dust or microscopic mold spores.

A well-qualified candidate may also possess:

  • Knowledge of academic library functions. 

  • Knowledge of open education principles, current trends in library services, and the state/national OER funding landscape.

  • Familiarity with grant administration processes and higher‑education accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).

  • OEN certificate in Open Education

  • SPARC Open Education leadership

  • Creative Commons Certification

  • Experience with special projects, event planning, or academic library outreach.

  • Ability to use assessment tools such as Power BI or other relational database platforms.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with confidence in public speaking.

  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work proactively.
