Nurse Operating Room Manager for Busy Cosmetic Surgery Practice
Fairfax, VA

The Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute, one of the busiest cosmetic surgery practices in the DC area, is seeking an experienced RN to manage its surgical suite in Fairfax, VA

The ideal candidate must have experience in managing a small ambulatory surgery center, must be familiar with AAAASF accreditation requirements and must be able to manage a small operating room staff. Nurse must also have actual operating room experience, and be experienced in pre and post surgical patient care.

Requirements:
RN license, with experience working in an operating room setting. Experience working in a plastic surgery field is a big plus.
BLS & ACLS certification
OR, Critical Care or Telemetry experience .
Experience with AAAASF accreditation requirements (or similar)
Proven track record in managing a small ambulatory surgical center

Duties:
Main duties include but are not limited to:
Circulating for surgical procedures (experience with plastic surgery procedures is highly prefered)
Experience with Pre-op, PACU and assisting in surgical procedures
Ordering necessary supplies
Working with the practice's accreditation consultant to maintain the center's surgical accreditation
Managing a small operating room staff (2-4 employees)
Intraoperative monitoring of vital signs, use of monitoring equipment including telemetry.
Knowledge of proper sterilization procedures, terminal cleaning, ...
Taking care of patients pre and post surgery
Patient interviewing, conducting a consultation and patient counseling, pre-operative patient education.
Administrative duties include review of patient pre-operative requirements, past medical history and ordering tests to clear patients for surgery.
Post-operative care includes dressing changes, suture removal, drain removal, etc.
Strong assessment skills and ability to initiate interventions with the multidisciplinary team.
