A Level IV trauma, high-acuity acute care hospital in the Denver area is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join a large, advanced Surgical Services department. This role supports complex adult and pediatric surgical cases in a fast-paced, tertiary/quaternary environment with direct ICU access from the OR.
This opportunity is ideal for perioperative RNs with strong circulating experience who thrive in technologically advanced operating rooms and value teamwork, clinical excellence, and professional growth.
Perform comprehensive preoperative patient assessments and preparation.
Circulate surgical cases and ensure adherence to universal protocols, time-outs, and surgical site verification.
Administer IV therapy, preoperative medications, and intraoperative nursing interventions.
Monitor patient condition throughout procedures and respond to emergencies as needed.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and nursing staff.
Provide patient and family education related to surgical procedures and postoperative expectations.
Document patient care accurately and in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards.
Contribute to evidence-based practice, quality improvement initiatives, and a culture of safety.
Shift Options: 10- or 12-hour shifts
6:45 AM – 5:00 PM
7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
On-Call: Approximately 10–12 call shifts per 8-week period (mix of weekdays and weekends)
On-Call Radius: Must reside within 30 minutes of the facility
Level IV Trauma designation
18 Operating Rooms, including hybrid suites and integrated spine/navigation rooms
Advanced surgical technology, including robotics and complex imaging
ICU directly attached to the OR
Service Lines Include:
Complex Spine, Joint Revision, Limb Preservation, Orthopedic Oncology, Transplant (Liver & Kidney), Neuro, Trauma, High-Risk OB, Vascular, ENT, GYN, Plastics, General Surgery, Dedicated Spine and Transplant Services
Required
Active Colorado RN license or compact RN license eligible to practice in Colorado
Minimum 1 year of recent perioperative (OR) RN experience
Circulating experience required
BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
Completion of an accredited nursing program
Preferred
BSN
Surgery Center experience
CNOR certification
ACLS and PALS (within 6 months of hire)
Candidates should clearly document perioperative training, OR orientation, and circulating experience on their resume.
