Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or utility systems preferred
5+ years of hands-on experience in facility operations or utility maintenance
2+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead role
Familiarity with industrial utility systems (e.g., boilers, chillers, air compressors, HVAC units, distribution panels)
Valid driver's license and ability to be on-call
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of utility systems, including HVAC, electrical (high/low voltage), mechanical piping, and control systems
Ability to interpret technical drawings, utility schematics, P&IDs, and O&M manuals
Practical experience in field supervision, troubleshooting, system isolation, and emergency response
Understanding of PLC, HMI systems and maintenance planning/scheduling
Strong familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, and local code compliance
Proactive in identifying and resolving field-level risks or inefficiencies
Effective communication and leadership to guide frontline personnel
Comfortable with shift planning, contractor coordination, and technical reporting
Essential Functions
Supervise and coordinate all field-level operation and maintenance activities for utility systems (HVAC, mechanical, electrical)
Lead daily inspections of equipment such as chillers, boilers, compressors, pumps, distribution panels, and air-handling units
Prioritize and assign work orders to field technicians based on urgency and skillset
Monitor and manage real-time operations via HMI/BMS when needed
Troubleshoot system failures and initiate immediate countermeasures
Ensure timely execution of PM (preventive maintenance) programs and utility performance logging
Conduct field-level safety checks and enforce compliance with safety protocols
Train and coach junior staff on proper operation and safety practices
Maintain accurate field records including equipment status, incidents, and shift reports
Act as the primary point of contact for field emergencies and utility alarms
Support utility shutdown/startup activities in coordination with engineering and production
Participate in audits, inspections, and incident investigations involving utility systems
Ensure sufficient inventory of field tools, spare parts, and safety gear
Be available for on-call support as needed
** May require on-call availability for emergencies or plant issues outside regular working hours
Work Environment
Work is performed in active industrial environments that may include noise, vibration, confined spaces, elevated platforms, and exposure to high/low temperatures. Occasional work during utility shutdowns, weekends, or off-hours may be required.
