Position Overview:
The Operational Medical Director (OMD) provides physician-led clinical oversight for Louisa County Fire and EMS operations. The OMD is responsible for establishing, reviewing, and maintaining EMS protocols, ensuring compliance with Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services (VAOEMS) requirements, and overseeing the quality and appropriateness of pre-hospital patient care. This role supports continuous improvement in clinical performance, training, and emergency response operations.

Key Responsibilities:
The Operational Medical Director (OMD) provides physician-led clinical oversight for Louisa County Fire and EMS operations.
The OMD is responsible for establishing, reviewing, and maintaining EMS protocols, ensuring compliance with Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services (VAOEMS) requirements, and overseeing the quality and appropriateness of pre-hospital patient care.
This role supports continuous improvement in clinical performance, training, and emergency response operations.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of EMS protocols, VAOEMS compliance requirements, electronic Patient Care Reports (ePCRs) review, Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement (QA/QI) methodologies, and emergency/disaster response protocol development.
Soft Skills: Clinical judgment, leadership, effective communication, crisis management, and the ability to collaborate with EMS personnel and agency leadership.
