The Center for Health Care Rights is a Los Angeles-based nonprofitorganization dedicated to assuring consumer access to quality health carethrough education, counseling, informal advocacy and legal services. The Centeris the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) for Los AngelesCity and County and is the primary source for Medicare beneficiaries to accessfree and unbiased Medicare education and information. The Center’s directservices to Medicare beneficiaries empower consumers who are seniors and/orpeople with disabilities and their family members to use Medicare, Medi-Cal andother health benefits effectively, make informed health care choices, and takeappropriate action to resolve their health care problems. All services areprovided free of charge.
Program services include counseling and informaladvocacy (to help clients understand their Medicare and Medi-Cal rights andbenefits, obtain access to programs that provide help with medical expenses,and help resolve access to care problems within the Medicare and Medi-Calprograms); community education and outreach (via free educational seminars onMedicare, Medi-Cal, and other health care topics for Medicare consumers,caregivers, and health and social service providers); and legal assistance (withstaff attorneys providing Medicare beneficiaries with legal advice and/orrepresentation to resolve serious Medicare and Medi-Cal access to care problemsor claim denials).
Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as an integral member ofthe senior management team, the position’s primary responsibility is ensuringorganizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the organization’sfinancial and business functions. In addition to the strategic components, the OperationsDirector is charged with developing and implementing policies and proceduresboth in the finance and general operational realms.
The Operations Director will beresponsible for developing systems for, ensuring implementation of, andday-to-day management of: bookkeeping tasks; payroll; City/County/State grantreporting; managing the organization’s human resources processes, overseeingthe creation of organizational and program budgets in collaboration with the ExecutiveDirector, agency data systems, and other relevant duties as assigned. Theposition will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, rangingfrom client and project management (framing of key approaches, high-qualityclient service delivery, written operating and evaluation protocols) toadministration (information technology, reporting, facilities), and humancapital (human resources/recruiting, mentoring, career progression).
Salary and Benefits:
The starting salary range is $75,000-$85,000depending upon qualifications. Employer provides 100% paid premium health anddental benefits and paid parking. CHCR offers a voluntary and self-fundedtax-deferred annuity program and supplemental insurance. Generous paid time offincluding paid holidays, vacation and sick leave .
The expectation willbe that this position will work primarily in the office with some flexibilityfor remote work
