As an Operations Specialist, you will coordinate daily freight activity by aligning customer requirements, available loads, equipment, and drivers. The role builds productive relationships with customers, drivers, terminals, and internal departments; supports timely pickups and deliveries; maintains accurate shipping records; resolves service issues; and promotes safe, efficient, and profitable operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Solicit, process, and coordinate shipment requests from existing and prospective customers.
- Match available freight with equipment and drivers to provide dependable service while maximizing operational efficiency and driver revenue.
- Secure, organize, assign, and preplan loads; provide routing, pickup, and delivery instructions; and keep drivers in efficient, profitable lanes whenever possible.
- Monitor pickup and delivery schedules, coordinate rescheduling when needed, and promptly communicate service disruptions to customers, drivers, terminals, and customer service.
- Respond to customer and driver questions, problems, and complaints with timely, practical resolutions.
- Coordinate with other terminals and internal departments, including Billing and Traffic, to address freight needs, order details, and unbilled loads.
- Maintain complete and accurate computerized shipping records as close to real time as possible.
- Track load status and operating results, identify opportunities to improve workflows or systems, and communicate recommendations to management.
- Perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Perform other related duties as required by business needs or assigned by management.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Must have transportation experience to be considered.
- Must be a hunter who strives to close new business.
- Must be able to work with little to no supervision.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
