Operations Support 2 (Mechanic) - Saint Martinville, LA

Summary

Under general direction, this role performs a variety of job responsibilities which may include equipment and plant maintenance work, fertilizer blending, and delivery of fertilizer and chemical products to customers from the Unit office.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs varied responsibilities such as calibrating spreaders and liquid injectors, delivering and setting tanks, and cleaning and storing equipment.


• Serves as primary mechanic for the fertilizer warehouse, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing blenders, conveyor belts, electrical circuits, and related equipment.


• Conducts scheduled and preventive maintenance on trucks, tractors, and warehouse equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.


• Responsible for servicing equipment including wheel bearings, brakes, lights, tires, and other components.


• May repair, manufacture or disassemble equipment using a welder and/or cutting torch. 


• Reads and completes work orders accurately.


• May assist with loading, blending, and delivery of fertilizer and chemicals to customers.


• Performs miscellaneous duties including assisting with special projects, attending training, and providing operational back-up as needed.

Typical Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Relevant Experience

• One plus years related experience. 


• Basic math skills. 


• Mechanical knowledge is required 


• Knowledge of basic farm equipment and operation. 


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly. 

Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position.
