Job Description - Operations / Weekend Supervisor/Mobility & Marketing Manager

Description

The Operations / Weekend Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of transportation functions within Namekagon Transit, and direct supervision of operations staff. The Operations Supervisor must have knowledge of all routes the transit operates, service development and must be capable of modifying the operations system when needed to improve efficiency or to respond to policy changes. The Operations Supervisor position is a full - time exempt position, involving a varying work schedule and must be available to work anytime transit services are operated. This includes Saturdays, Sundays and late evening/early morning hours and on-call status to respond to emergency situations. The Operation Supervisor reports directly to the Transit Manager. 

The Mobility Manager is responsible for assisting and coordinating transportation options, Medical Assistance reservations and travel training for disabled, older and low-income residents along with marketing within the Namekagon Transit service area.  The Mobility/Marketing Manager assists clients to choose, obtain and maintain transportation options that best accommodate their unique travel choices and need.   

This position is approximately 50% driving /dispatching hours, 50% supervisory and office hours. Must be available to work weekends.

This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to US DOT Drug and Alcohol pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and return to duty testing. Failure to comply with this provision or a positive test result will subject this employee to dismissal from their employment.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Supervises the Transit system, including planning work schedules for dispatch and drivers, assigning workloads, and supervising staff.

· Supervise and coordinate the operations department

· Aid in the planning, implementation and monitoring of all transit services provided by Namekagon Transit.

· Maintain a basic knowledge of the government funding programs affecting transit services.

· Supervise, train, evaluate, and coach all drivers, dispatchers and schedulers.

· Report and make recommendations for remedial and/or disciplinary actions to the Transit Manager.

· Perform field evaluations of operators.

· Ensure accurate record keeping by operators and dispatch/schedulers.

· Make necessary system changes and adjustments to ensure quality and efficient service is being delivered.

· Promptly notify the Transit Manager of any major operations problems requiring his/her attention and on all matters pertaining to operation of the transit service relevant to the Operations Department.

· Maintain compliance with all applicable safety regulations.

· Provide public speaking presentations to groups of transportation resource information including, but not limited to resource manuals, brochures,

· Assist Transit Manager with accident investigations.

· Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars as directed by the Transit Manager

· Be prepared to fill in for the schedulers or other operations staff in their absence.

· Handle in a secure and professional manner, all cash and property of Namekagon Transit.

· Other duties as assigned such as, but not limited to: vehicle insurance matters, staff complaints, driver training and customer service.

Qualifications and Skills:

· 2 years of management with direct supervision of staff.

· Proficiency in oral and written communications.

· Comprehensive knowledge of supervisory principles and practices to include; work scheduling, performance evaluation, hiring, discipline and terminations.

· Must have a valid driver license and a good, clean, driving record.

· Computer literacy: Able to use transport software and have a strong sense of data management.

· Employees will be subject to Pre-Employment drug screening and random drug screening for drug and alcohol as required by FTA regulations.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

· Flexibility in working hours

· Must be able to work weekends, driving or dispatching as needed

· Prior knowledge of public transportation is preferred.

Wage Range - $51,000 to $56,000 annually, depending on experience.

Note: Previous experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
