Overview:

The Chemicals & Specialties Operator will be part of the Commercial Operations and Logistics team and sit embedded with the Chemicals & Specialties Trading team, which is responsible for buying, selling, trading and scheduling deliveries of Chemicals & Specialties for ATA and engaging in value adding optimization and global trading activities.  In addition, the Chemicals & Specialties Operator will sup‐port Aramco Trading Americas’ upstream supply growth objectives, as well as global trading business.  The Chemicals & Specialties Operator will re‐port to the Head of Commercial Operations and Logistics.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled Chemicals group planning meetings to review and discuss refinery run plans, changes to those plans, inventories at terminals, pipeline schedules, marine vessel status, interactions with refinery scheduling team and outside logistics partners

  • Review trading contracts and ensure operational execution, both by Aramco Trading Americas and the external company

  • Understand quality constraints, perform quality blending operations, ensure quality consistency, coordinate sampling for assay/quality verification as required.

  • Coordinate marine activity including FOB liftings, delivered cargoes, vessel vetting, lightering inspections, loss control, custom filings and invoicing.

  • Actively assess and manage a range of operational plans and outcomes inherent to the refining / logistics / trading environment and share market insight/intelligence.

  • Work closely with mid-office to ensure positions and risk exposure is valid in the system of record. Attention to detail and system entry correctness are a must.

  • Work closely with back-office to ensure the validity of volume actualization, receipt reconciliation, settlement, review/validate and confirm for payment in‐voices associated with pipeline or marine activity, calculate, and maintain logistics cost accruals in the system of record, verify and approve inspection service invoices on an ongoing basis.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and ex‐ternal counterparties. Work externally with commercial counterparts in resolving issues that arise expediently and professionally.

  • Enter orders and maintain accuracy of data in Aramco Trading Americas Software Systems such as: Navarik, Terminal-Smart, Right Angle and other third-party scheduling systems.

  • The preferred candidate will have water logistics experience including barge and vessel.

  • Successful candidate needs to be available outside of normal working hours to address logistic matters that arise. Available to be on call 24/7

  • Experience in inventory / position management is preferred.  This role will be balancing supply and demand and giving the physical trader guidance on what they have available or need to move.

  • Experience working with inspection, terminal operations, and commercial is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Petroleum / chemical movement experience (marine preferred over pipeline).

  • Someone who checks the box on humility, motivation, analysis, collaboration is very important.  It is necessary in other words that this individual is a cultural fit.

 

MINIMIM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

  • Experience with petroleum/Chemicals & Specialties operations

  • Three plus years of business experience

  • Awareness of refining operations

  • Demonstrated ability to be inquisitive, analytical, collaborative, and detail/action oriented while managing complexity and ambiguity.

  • Demonstrate ability to be resilient and adaptive in an environment of constant change and challenges.

  • Ability to maintain organization of a large quantity of dynamic information and circumstances.

  • Must be available to work in an office environment, located in downtown Houston, TX
