JOB DESCRIPTION

Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment—including plows/trenchers, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, bulldozers, and front-end loaders—to support construction and project-related activities.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  Operate heavy equipment—including plows/trenchers, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, bulldozers, and front-end loaders—safely and efficiently to support construction activities.

  Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure safe operation and report any issues or required repairs.

  
  


• 
  

  Conduct basic maintenance on equipment such as greasing, lubrication, and fluid checks.

  
  


• 
  

  Follow site-specific safety protocols and company procedures at all times.

  
  


• 
  

  Collaborate with site supervisors and crew members to meet project goals and schedules.

  
  


• 
  

  Read and interpret grade stakes and project specifications as needed for accurate operation.

  Adapt to various weather conditions and physically demanding work environments.

  Work independently while maintaining a team-oriented, safety-focused mindset.

  Perform other duties as assigned, including labor tasks when equipment is not in use.

  
  

PHYSICAL AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• Must comply with company drug and alcohol policy and pass any required physical exams.


• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (assistance recommended for heavier loads).


• Work extended hours on foot, including on uneven or rough surfaces.


• Climb ladders, kneel, crawl, or work at heights and in confined spaces.


• Must be able to hear and distinguish emergency signals and instructions while on duty
