Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Ophthalmic Photographer to join our dynamic, high-volume retina practice. The successful candidate will work directly with our vitreoretinal surgeon and clinical team to capture and manage high-quality diagnostic images using state-of-the-art imaging technologies. This individual plays a critical role in patient care, supporting diagnostic accuracy and surgical planning through the delivery of precise ophthalmic imaging.

Key Responsibilities:

• Retinal Imaging:
  
  
  
  • Perform a full range of retinal imaging procedures including:
    
    
    
    • Fundus photography (color, red-free, autofluorescence)
    
    
    • Fluorescein angiography (FA)
    
    
    • Indocyanine green angiography (ICG)
    
    
    • Optical coherence tomography (OCT and OCT-A)
    
    
    • Widefield and ultra-widefield imaging (e.g., Optos)
    
    
    • External and slit lamp photography
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • Patient Interaction:
    
    
    
    • Prepare and educate patients for imaging procedures
    
    
    • Obtain relevant medical and ocular history as needed
    
    
    • Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging sessions
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • Collaboration:
    
    
    
    • Work closely with the vitreoretinal surgeon to prioritize urgent cases and provide timely imaging
    
    
    • Communicate effectively with the clinical team regarding patient status, imaging results, and workflow
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • Image Management & Documentation:
    
    
    
    • Upload, organize, and maintain image records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
    
    
    • Accurately label and annotate images according to protocol
    
    
    • Ensure timely delivery of images for review by physicians
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    
    
    
    • Perform daily calibration and maintenance of all imaging equipment
    
    
    • Troubleshoot basic technical issues and coordinate service when needed
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • Compliance & Safety:
    
    
    
    • Follow infection control and safety protocols
    
    
    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic privacy standards
    
    
    • Adhere to clinical guidelines for contrast agents during angiography
    
    
    
    
  
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Required:
  
  
  
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  
  
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in ophthalmic imaging, preferably in a retina practice
  
  
  • Proficiency with imaging platforms such as Heidelberg, Zeiss, Optos, Topcon, or equivalent
  
  
  • Strong understanding of retinal anatomy and common vitreoretinal diseases
  
  
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume clinical setting
  
  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  
  
  
  


• Preferred:
  
  
  
  • Certification by the Ophthalmic Photographers' Society (OPS)
  
  
  • Certification by the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO)
  
  
  • Experience with EMR systems (e.g., NextGen, Epic, ModMed)
  
  
  • BLS certification
  
  
  
  

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced retina specialty clinic with frequent urgent cases


• Direct interaction with patients of all ages, often with significant visual impairment


• Standing and walking for extended periods; ability to lift imaging equipment as needed


• Exposure to low-light environments for image capture

Schedule & Benefits:
