Job Description - Ophthalmic Surgical Trainer


RxSight® is an ophthalmic medical technology corporation headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California that has commercialized the world’s first and only adjustable intraocular lens (IOL) that is customized after cataract surgery. The company’s mission is to revolutionize the premium cataract surgery experience by allowing surgeons to partner with their patients to achieve optimized results for every unique eye.

OVERVIEW:

The Ophthalmic Surgical Trainers are responsible for providing world class training and support for physicians and surgical technicians on the use of RxSight’s Injector platforms for its Light Adjustable Lens (LAL). Position will support surgical efforts at Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) for a predefined region. Position will coordinate with Surgeons and ASC technicians to train on the proper use of the RxSight insertion device(s). Position will provide consistent, high-level support to Customer sites, fostering full integration of RxSight products within the Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) in a predefined region. This position will also assist with customer consignment inventory reconciliation as well as proper reporting of implant usage and ordering processes.


Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train Physicians and staff on RxSight Injector loading and delivery.
  • Communicate with sites to identify key on-site personnel, set proper expectations to ensure full site readiness to accept RxSight technology prior to customer onboarding.
  • Ensure staff supporting physicians are fully educated and trained on RxSight technology to full competence.
  • Train per labeling and become certified specifically to LAL loading and delivery.
  • Ensure continuous procedure and training adherence for trained staff and physicians by conducting periodic audits of the effectiveness of the Training program.
  • Assist with customer complaint-handling and management, as applicable.
  • Support new surgeon’s use of the injector system as required and ensure scrub techs and surgeons are certified for the use of the RxSight Injector System.
  • Provide feedback for implementing and optimizing the use of LAL within the ASC.
  • Monitor and update the Training Portal regularly to ensure accurate reflection of customer activity as well as training readiness of each customer site.
  • Provide excellent Customer support for customers assigned within your geographical region as measured by periodic Customer Satisfaction Surveys.
  • Assist with clinical data collection, analysis and presentation as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrable ability to liaise with individuals of all levels, including surgeons, clinical staff and facility administrators.
  • Significant surgical experience in ophthalmic surgical applications, with emphasis in Cataract Surgery.
  • Proven and excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to travel up to ~75% of the time.
  • 4+ years Surgical experience in ophthalmic industry.
  • Clinical experience within the ophthalmic industry preferred.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and travel without restriction in the applicable region of the world.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Although this position will not have supervisory requirements it is expected that this position will lead the clinical activities and efforts within individual customer sites. We expect this position will lead new customer onboarding activities as well as practice role model behavior through their interaction with RxSight customers and fellow employees as well as potential future customers.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:

Current and relevant experience working within a ASC with Ophthalmic surgeries.

OSA required
